Providing alcohol to someone over 18, but younger than 21?
I turn 21 in a month, I'm prepared to receive answers telling me to "not do it," but a couple of my closest friends will not be 21 until the end of Summer. I generally don't go to big parties or anything like that, however in the event me and my friends are caught, would that still be considered "providing to a minor?" I assume so, but I would just like confirmation. I live in Iowa, if that makes a difference.
I had a friend who was busted, and the dad received a $300 ticket and it wasn't a misdemeanor because he provided alcohol to the underage kids at the party. I'm not sure if the cop was just being generous, or if their is some leniency if they're over 18, but younger than 21.

You can get a ticket for contributing to the delinquency of a minor (Even though they are over 18 they are still a minor as far as alcohol goes). If I was you, I would probably do it. Why? He is your friend and as long as your name isn't brought up if he is caught and you have no texts about it (even if you delete them, just use calls), there really is no way to get you. Basically only use calls and only buy with cash and you will be fine.

I will abstain from providing any information on this topic.
Whatever answers you receive will only be guesses.
You want to take a chance - then take a chance by being there with your friends
while they drink responsibly, Involve no one else, don;t have an underage drinkers
party, and keep the noise down and chances are everyone will have fun over the summer.
I would give 10-to-1 odds that one of your friends will blow it, and you will get busted. Keep in mind, you are knowingly providing alcohol to a "minor" - which is illegal - and if someone gets into trouble outside your little gathering, THAT is when you need to worry.
I suppose you need to be the grown-up, and keep your "minor" friends from getting wasted. hey - you control the alcohol - just don;t provide too much and the summer will be fun and you'll all get through it. that is the point, right?

YES IT WOULD.
And you, being the adult, would go to jail.
Want a criminal record for something that stupid? Have to say yes to "ever been convicted of a crime" on job applications, then watch them throw your application in the trash?
Because NO ONE hires anyone with ANY crime on the background check anymore.
ANY crime.
Think about that in this economy.
There's really nothing else to say.

Here is what I think:
The law is the law - if you break it make sure you are prepared to pay the price.
Ask yourself, is it really worth getting caught for it?
