FA5s. EKs, EM1s, DAs, EGs... (Newb question)?

Okay.. you know how EM1s are 2000 civic Si's? Why are they called EM1s? What do those "nicknames" mean?

    They aren't nicknames. Those are the chassis codes for those Hondas. The EM1 is the chassis code for 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si coupe (USDM). The sedans & hatchbacks had the chassis code EK3 (for non Si/SiR) & EK4 for the (SiR outside the US)

    Those aren't "nicknames", just the model codes Honda uses for the different models and generations. I'm not sure that they actually mean anything besides denoting the chronological sequence (AT->EC->ED->EE->EF->EG->EM->EP->FA->FG)

    Just like BMW has model codes for the 3 series like E30, E36, E46, E92, etc...

    Its in the VIN number if you look at integra vins for example its like jhdc4 (any 2 dr model -type-r and gsr which are dc2)
