I tend to get carpal tunnel on a chronic basis after working long hours (am occupational hazard I suppose). Bracers didn't really work for me- btu I have TENS unit that is amazing for pain relief. Mine is one I built myself (it helps having a background in electronics), but there are ones available in stores- a good pharmacy should have one (or be able to order one for you) or else a medical supplies shop. I would advise getting them to show you how to use it properly and to pay close attention to the safety instructions such as never using it across your chest!

I dont know how to get rid of it w/o surgery but i know for mine there r certain things that make it worse such as: Weight gain, using hands excessively(computer work), tight muscles in neck and shoulder. I was surprised to learn that the nerve runs all the way from ur shoulder down. A lot of times I can use a heating pad or some type of topical analgesic to relieve the muscles which in turn relieves the nerve and helps my carpal tunnel. Also, I would consider getting wrist bands to wear especially at bedtime. Hope this helps :)

hello Allan, I have had Carpal Tunnel in both wrist for years. After having multiple shoulder and neck surgeries, I am in no mood for further surgeries. At this time, the doctor has fitted me for wrist braces that I wear as much as possible. Since due to other health issues, I have had to retire, I wear both braces for sure from 4pm till the next morning. Taking them off for showers and cooking (hard to pick up skillets with them on). Since I have started wearing the braces the wrist seldom hurt when they are off... After paying a lot of money for custom made braces, my daughter got almost the same thing (adjustable metal inserts) at either Walgreen's or Walmart. God Bless Reggie

It never fully goes away if you've got it for certain I'm pretty sure. You can reduce the symptoms and lower the possibility of needing surgery with stretches during the day and a wrist brace if necessary. You can try wearing the brace at night when you go to bed at first and see if that relieves some of the pain.
