Wos's face was on the one dollar bills back in the days when George Washington was President?

Paper currency was used on late 18th century so plz don't tell me there were not bills in those days.

Update:

Some ppl really have no brains like Alex here who thinks that President Washington lived in the 16th Century, Oh my gods !!!

The first bills issued by the US government were in 1862 to help pay for the Civil War, but Washington didn't make his appearance on the single until 1869. The 1862 issue had Lincoln's Treasury Secretary, Salmon P. Chase.

Martha Washington appeared on several $1 bills in the 1880's, and in the 1890's, George and Martha both appeared on the _back_ of the $1 bill. http://usrarecurrency.com/1896$1silvercertificatef...

Currency issued by private banks was used before the Feds started printing money (and in fact private banks could issue currency until 1935). There were about 7000 different types of private bank notes, so I guess it's possible someone else was on there earlier, although they tended to use "stock" images to reduce the design cost.

Sorry to disappoint but the first dollar bill wasn't printed until 1862, long after Washington. Even then, George Washington was still not on it until the second issue. And Washington wasn't even alive in the 18th century. Sorry!

George Washington was not president in the 18th century, it was the late 16th century, so yes, he was on the dollar bill ever since there have been dollar bills.

There were no faces on 18th century currency. They had images of states seals, animals, nature, symbols and such.
