Should I Play Football Again?
Hey everybody.
From 3rd grade to 7th grade, I played Pop Warner football.
Last year (freshman year) I played football at my high school. I weighed about 200lbs, and was 5'9". A month into the season, I suffered an open-compound fracture to my left forearm. My parents freaked out, and they made me quit after that season.
Now I'm a sophomore, and I'm on the wrestling team. I REALLY like wrestling, and I'm definitely going to do it for the next 2 years. I'm now 180bs and 6'. But my question here is this:
Should I go back to football (which takes place mostly during the wrestling off-season)?
I'm still a bit shaken up about my arm, but I'm starting to want to play football again.
For the 5 years I played football, I was always a lineman cause I was big. *IF* I go back to it, I do NOT want to be a lineman again, and I don't think I would be very capable because by the time football starts I should be about 170lbs.
Do you guys think I should play football again?
If so, what precautions should I take regarding my arm?
How should I convince the coach to let me try out for a linebacker or even a halfback position?
HELPPP!

Go for it, your arm should be fine if your arm was fine wrestling. You just have to practice and show the coach what you can do. I think you should be a fullback but linebacker is good to. You just got to forget about the injury and just play football cuz it could be a distraction while your playing cautiously.

Everyone makes a great point about him having paid his debt to society (although he has a really long way to go to pay his debt to those dogs). What we forget is that as a professional football player he is automatically a role model in this country. Millions of young boys dream of a career just like his. Because of this, the responsibility of being a good role model is thrust upon these players, and Michael Vick is never going to be a good role model again. Should he be left alone? Yes. Should he be allowed to work in a place where he is in the public eye and receives accolades? No. Let him go get a job as a high school football coach-and he can teach the kids respect for animals at the same time. If he was a sex offender we wouldn't even be talking about this. And remember that people who abuse animals are more likely to become serial killers. He served his time, but I would wager he did not understand his sentence or learn anything.
