It is a trade embargo which is 45 years old. It was supposed to make Cuba a failed state and until 1991 the Soviet Union was Cuba's main trading partner. Obama has been easing trade restrictions gradually over the last two years. I dont agree with it in the first place. Cuba was a socialist experiment and was under attack and attempted assassination from the U.S. since 1962 by every U.S. administration with the CIA. Even Castro who writes a weekly newspaper column has admitted that his socialist revolution did not work. Of course we should drop the embargo against Cuba because it did not bring the government down, it only made everyone suffer for lack of goods all these years. The Cuban exile community in Florida has been very powerful lobbying Congress against dropping the embargo until Castro died or stepped down.

First of all communism only works for the upper 1%. Hmmm where have u heard that before? Maybe msnbc? No way! Communism works for the people in charge. If u know anything about economics you know that if u leave the market alone, very very little regulation, it functions at it's prime. Hence the free market system that exists in Singapore and in hong kOng. Notice I didn't say here in the US. That's because no matter how u see it, we are no lOnger free market or free trade. The govt regulates every aspect of a business making it more expensive to run. Meaning they pay people less. And the govt sets minimum wage higher so businesses have to let people to go in order to meet the minimum wage for the remaining employees. And since china doesn't have regulations (compared to us) our businesses go over there to make their products because it's way cheaper, they can make more money, and they don't have to deal with the million tariffs the US has. U see in japan we have to pay an extra fee for each American car sold their while here they can we'll as many cars as they want for nothing extra, sounds like free enterprise right? Read a book!

Their communist and they helped the Soviets plan an attack against the US back in the 60's.

The attack never happened because the US threatened retaliation against the USSR, but Cuba remained Communist.

    because communism was working.

in order to discredit it, the US cut off all trade with communist countries. now they're corrupt and backwards and we say, "see, we told you so."
