    Put simply:

    1. It needs to cover the postage, obviously. If it's a normal letter, not overstuffed, in a standard envelope, and not going to a different country, then the price is usually standardized (but you didn't say what country you're in, so I can't say). However, just tell the people wherever you're buying stamps that you want to send a letter, and they'll give you the right one. If the letter is of an unusual size, stuffed with lots of paper, or going to a different country, take it to your post office and they'll sort it out.

Note that the cost to send a letter CAN change occasionally; if it costs (for example) 50 cents to mail a letter now, and you have an old 49 cent stamp, you'll need to buy a 1-cent stamp to stick next to it. If you check the website for the post office in your country, they should tell you what the cost for a letter is, and at what weight the cost changes.

    2. However, you might be asking about commemorative stamps, for example, a Christmas-themed stamp, or something commemorating some historical event, person, or various other things. With these, just use common sense. Most people won't care about the more normal sorts of stamps, but you may want to avoid, for example, a silly cartoony stamp when sending a letter asking for a job, or using a Christmas stamp in June. But I doubt anyone would really judge you that harshly even if you did.

    Hope this helps!

Depends on what kind of "mattering" you are talking about. Does it matter to the Post Office? Not unless it doesn't cover the delivery. Arriving "Postage Due" may irritate the recipient, too.

Now for the recipient? Hard to say. If you run it through a postage machine, it may appear "official." Whether that's good or bad, only they will know.

If you happen to have a stamp about something the recipient is really into... they may notice and appreciate that fact. If the recipient is really into stamps, then using something unusual may impress them.

All in all, that's a hard question to answer without any more detail.

relies upon on what type of "mattering" you're speaking approximately. Does it remember to the submit place of work? no longer till it does not conceal the transport. Arriving "Postage Due" could worsen the recipient, too. Now for the recipient? problematical to assert. in case you run it via a postage gadget, it may desire to look "valid." no remember if that's good or undesirable, basically they are going to be attentive to. in case you have a stamp approximately something the recipient is definitely into... they could be conscious and take exhilaration in that fact. If the recipient is definitely into stamps, then employing something unusual could provoke them. All in all, that's a problematical question to respond to with none longer factor.
