I requested direct deposit but IRS site says it will be mailed??:/?

I did my taxes on turbotax and on THAT site it says my refunded will be direct deposited on the 28th (which I knew wouldn't really happen. So I checked the IRS site and for days it said it would be deposited into my account on the first. (I knew that was wrong because they only do deposits on Fridays.) So today I checked it and it said my refund is scheduled to be mailed to me on Feb. 4th.. WTH? It it really going to be mailed? Or will it still be direct deposited into my account? THANKS!

Hard to tell what's going on. Actually they do deposits other days than Fridays now. One of my clients got hers deposited last night, which was what WMR had said. Unless your routing number was wrong on your return (check that) it's too early for your bank to have already refused the deposit, which would change you to a mailed check.

That's crazy, the exact thing happened to me and I used turbotax as well. I know my account information was correct because I sent it to the same account as last year (TT saves this information). I called the IRS and the dude was completely lost, he ended up saying he had no record of me requesting a direct deposit so they would send a check, I don't think they know whats going on either. I chose to pay my turbo tax fees out of my refund and turbo tax confirmed a direct deposit date via email. I have no idea whats going on, I hope we get it Friday. I really don't want to wait a month to get a paper check, the next excuse they will give is how they lost it!

Direct deposits are ALWAYS made on Fridays. Some banks take a few days to have them available in the account, as late as Tuesday of the following week, which is why some people don't see them until a Monday or Tuesday. My WMR site says that my refund will be DD this friday. Chances are that your account information was wrong or it could quite possibly be a mistake on the website. Try calling the irs at 1-800-829-1040, they usually have better information. Good Luck!

this yr, they're not sending dd only on fridays. some people have had theirs dd'ed on a monday and yesterday too. so this yr that's not the case. as long as you put a routing # and acct # to where you want your refund deposited when you were filing, you still should get a dd.

i wonder if they had some kind of problem with your routing number or account number is the reason they're mailing you a check. that's the only thing that comes to mind why you would receive a check. (or maybe an offset/owe back taxes they need to deduct before giving you the refund...hmmmm)

    1. The WMR page is wrong. It's pretty buggy and this is a common error.

    2. You fat-fingered the routing number for your bank. The IRS can't verify account numbers (yet, they're working on it) but does verify routing numbers. An invalid routing number will result in your refund automatically being converted to a paper check.

If the IRS says it will be mailed, you should expect them to mail it. There might have been an issue with your account or routing number, and that's why they wont direct deposit it.

The IRS regularly deposits on Fridays, despite if I even have considered deposits for my clientele on different days besides. The overwhelming majority have been on Friday. have confidence the the place My Refund fact and verify back next week for an replace. good success

It will be direct deposit. not unless you choose to have it mailed to you.
