Who is willing to admit that the media can control situations?

Through 'spin' and the way topics are presented or speeches highlighted.

Media is the ultimate Spin Machine. Where a seemingly innocuous statement can be shown 'Just So' and cause a political scandal.

Willing to admit?I doubt you'd need to twist anyone's arms for that one.More like stating the blooming obvious, non?

I am willing to admit this. Not only does the media - in all its forms - censor the news, culling out what they think isn't newsworthy, they control the emotion or emotions attached to the stories they present with their use of particular words and phrases, with their use of body language and voice modulation (if TV or video) and with how the article/story is located. If a story about a kindly neighbor who's suspected of child molestation is preceded by one or two stories about child murder, the audience will be prepared to lynch the kindly neighbor before word leaks out that the kids making the allegations were lying.

I have seen many times where media have initiated leadership spills in government , falls of government and many other acts besides.

the trouble is hat we believe in the myth of journalistic integrity and that our "free" press would not lie to us.

The fact is most Journalists have sold there integrity to get where they are, good news stories and the truth do not sell newspapers or attract viewers.

As for freedom of the Press, Murdoch and Black killed that off, and most people today are happy to believe what they are told.

Do you really think Americans would have been that stupid to vote in Bush without Fox and CNN behind him and Rupert's performing Republican puppets?
