Question for Old Earth Creationists and Catholics, which species of hominid was Adam and Eve?
I've included a couple links to our evolutionary time-lines to make it easier to place first man. Pope John Paul II accepted evolution on the grounds of “‘ontological discontinuity’ - a point at which God injected a human soul into an animal lineage." I'm sure the pope would not make such a statement without good evidence and at least an approximate date that this occurred.

ozarkcat, at least half of these were discovered between 1970 and 2004, but you say they were debunked in the 60's? I think you belong on the list.
Creation Scientist, hovindis? Discovered by Kent Hovind I'm guessing? I think Dr. Dino is still serving time for crimes related to dishonesty, but history has shown us if you preach what people want to hear you will gain followers. I see Kent's alma mater is in an actual building now, it was a split level house in a development when Kent "graduated."

The Catholic Church makes no claim on knowledge of this answer.
The Catholic Church believes in the Big Bang, Evolution, and Adam and Eve.
The account of the Creation in Genesis uses figurative language, but affirms a primeval event, a deed that took place at the beginning of the history of man. Revelation gives us the certainty of faith that the whole of human history is marked by the original fault freely committed by our first parents.
If we assume that the Big Bang happened and Evolution is true, the scenario might happen like this. A manlike being is slowly evolving. At some point God gives these beings a soul. They become human being with free will and responsibility.
These human beings lived in complete “original” holiness, in perfect loving relationships with God and each other. They loved God with all their heart, with all their soul, and with all their mind. They loved their neighbors as much as they loved themselves.
Then the first human beings chose to break off this relationship with God, choosing to be selfish instead of loving. This was the Original Sin.
Consequently, they lost the grace of original holiness and sin became universally present in the world.
Besides the personal sin of the first human beings, original sin describes the fallen state of human nature, which affects every person born into the world, and from which Christ, the "new Adam," came to redeem us.

With love in Christ.

It amazes me how absolutely heretical and antibiblical "imacatholic2"''s answer is, and clearly does not speak for all catholics. Biological evolution is proven false because it pretends that death came before man, when the Bible says that death came from man[Genesis 2:17; 3:19] in an otherwise perfect world[Genesis 1:31]. What's even more ironic is that "imacatholic2" says "With love in Christ", even though Christ said that people who doubt Moses are not Christians: "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" (John 5:46-47) Thus, this post is intended to point out that answerer's utter fallacy.

Well I can tell you that I don't live my life according to what the pope approves or disapproves. I go by what God approves, disapproves and by every word that proceeds from his mouth. He is the one whom I serve.
~LUKE 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, [That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God].
Evolution states that we evolved from an animal or primate being into what we are today. I prefer to look at myself as an intelligent person formed in the image of God who has the same power that raised Jesus from the dead inside me.
* Believe what you want, and I will believe what I want. Praise the Lord we have this free will!
God bless you!

The catholic don't do science they do theology. What ever date or homo scientists can come up with, using proper science is accepted by the catholic church.
