700r4 with Vortech 350?

Hello, I have a buddy with a 96 Chevy Vortech 350 that came with the 4L60E tranny. The guy he bought it from put a Turbo 350 in the truck and it blew up......My friend is now having trouble deciding whether or not to put a 700r4 tranny in it, or find the original tranny, or just get a different truck.

I was thinking that bolting a 700r4 up to the Vortech motor wouldn't be an issue, nor would lengths of drive shafts matter, etc.....but since its not electronic, the motor would run like **** hooked up to it? I have no idea, we are in high school still, were no ASE techs lol, just backyard boys.

Any help appreciated.

Stick with the 4L60E tranmission.. you can find them easily at junk yards and just change the fluid and filter in them before installing and you should be fine. They were a very popular transmission and used in trucks and camaros for a few years so there should be several floating around near you.

the "vortec" call comes from the top layout, to get extra suited airflow alongside with extra suited injection. In 'ninety six the c/ok vortec got here with mandatory sequintial port injection( i'ts kinda not effortless to describe) the injectors are centally placed and use tubes to inject the gas to the cylinder. I actually have a '97 z71 and regarded up the sock hp @255hp and that i think of the torque is appx 250 ft/lbs. TBI grew to become into included at low end fee and multiport is close to to severe end hp like camaros and corvettes.

find a 4L60E transmission for it the 700 will not work you would need a cable for it and wiring will be different and neither the 700 or the 4L60E use vacuum
