Is my Asus motherboard defective?

I bought a Asus motherboard off of newegg about two weeks ago, worked just fine until it suddenly stopped recognizing keyboard and mouse. when I boot it wont let me do anything, Iv tried every usb port and still no connection... yet the mouse shows it has power.

the model is GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H

It started acting up with the wlan and would disconnect, so I went into bios and pressed the button to return bios to "failsafe defaults" saved and exited and thats when the keyboard and mouse problems started to occur...

is it my motherboard? do I need to replace it?

Whats the keyboard and mouse?...wireless..USB...the "fail safe" in some boards don't allow some items to work so you can diagnose some problems...put it back on Optimal and re install the drivers for the keyboard/mouse (if it was a logitech you should have a disc..if not go to the manufactures web site) I doubt if its your mother board.

You said you're having an issue with your ASUS board, yet you list it as the "Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H." Well, which is it, ASUS, or Gigabyte? Two different companies there...

In any case, have you tried clearing the CMOS, or updating to the latest BIOS? Have you tested your RAM for memory errors with MemTest86+? Heads up, if you haven't done any of this yet. But to me, it sounds like you probably just need to reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers. Which you can grab off the product page for your board on the manufacturer's site, or directly from amd.com.
