Do you think that its acceptable to remove Gods name from the Bible & replace it with LORD?

Update:

If yes please indicate why you think it is acceptable to tamper with Gods word

Update 2:

Cindy - I am sorry but you are mistaken that the tetragrammaton can be translated in many ways. Gods personal name is recorded as these 4 letters which are translated as Jehovah or Yahweh. No priest or minister from any religion would call this into question

Update 3:

Ernest C: I don't understand. Why is it hypocrisy to translate Gods personal name in as accurate a manner as one can ascertain (the lack of vowels make it impossible to be completely certain of the pronunciation) yet it is ok to replace it with a non personal title such as LORD?

God has many titles yet he has revealed in nearly 7,000 places that his personal name is Jehovah (or Yahweh if one prefers that pronunciation). Yes the name has to be translated and will differ in different languages but the meaning behind it is still the same. If God saw fit to tell us his divine name, why would we choose not to use it?

That's why I read the new world translation. It is unacceptable. Jehovah God wants us to know his name. When I read a version like king James, it is difficult to understand, and is not as powerful as reading The bible with God's holy name intact. 1 Corinthians 8:"5 For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6 there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him.">>>>>>>>>>>>1D The Divine Name in the Christian Greek Scriptures

“Jehovah.” Heb., יהוה (YHWH or JHVH)

From App 1A and 1C it is evident that the Tetragrammaton in Hebrew characters (יהוה) was used in both the Hebrew text and the Greek Septuagint. Therefore, whether Jesus and his disciples read the Scriptures in either Hebrew or Greek, they would come across the divine name. In the synagogue at Nazareth, when Jesus rose and accepted the book of Isaiah and read 61:1, 2 where the Tetragrammaton occurs twice, he pronounced the divine name. This was in accordance with his determination to make Jehovah’s name known as can be seen from his prayer to his Father: “I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world. . . . I have made your name known to them and will make it known.”—John 17:6, 26.

Before the birth of the Lord Jesus the Jewish religious leaders decided that the 4 letters used as God's name - YHVH - Yahveh or Jehovah - were too holy to be said by human beings so when they made a Greek translation of what we call the Old Testament they substituted the Greek word "kurios" or "Lord" for those 4 letters.

Personally, I think that if God hadn't wanted people to use that name then He wouldn't have revealed it to us in the first place.

It is acceptable when using English, to use English words to translate foreign words.

What is not acceptable is to use a so called translation where the so called translators couldn't understand the original language as with the New World Translation which offends against the Trade Descriptions Act.

Neither is it acceptable to change the meaning in that translation to suit false doctrine despite the original languages being quite clear on the meaning as the New World Translation does.

Why do you think the Watchtower Organisation does that and uses it?

If there was such a bug about "LORD" why didn't they use YHWH?

    Such hypocrisy and deceit!

strong positioned up My mom has a family members bible from her tremendous grandmother. (a Greek to English translation) Over a pair hundred years previous. It has the call used extra typically. that is in both sections of the bible. It makes use of YHWH in Greek on part translated to Jehovah for English section. that is an truly good e book and extremely precise and all in my family members would like it. My sister who went into nursing took a theology type and he or she aced it because of this e book. the position others were suffering merely to locate the suitable cloth. And it clears up the position some misuse some scriptures in help of a trinity. Many in my family members believe contained in the trinity (Catholics) we merely provide up using scriptures that were rewritten to push the doctrine more beneficial than the way it develop into initially written. We admit that has been achieved..Dumb and dishonest no longer to admit it. i imagine that is highly real many bibles from particular businesses their translators change the quite that technique of a few scriptures to in structure their concepts. and they did omit the call because they are pushing the trinity. They been doing that so long human beings do not even settle for the reality anymore. I desire extra would come again to the way it develop into written. quite than the sneaky, hidden propaganda coated in a lot of now. All we are able to do is go by various bibles now and desire we piece sufficient of the elementary reality mutually. And pray it receives extra acceptable no longer worst. I have my doubts on that. Even searching at a number of those comments Get This................ and merely the variety of issues your positioned up is about There are some now who opt for to censor the bible even extra keeping some places discriminate. hostile to sexual orientation. And different issues besides. and thanks to that some are arising new translations leaving out and replacing those issues they don't like. That keeps up how that is already going now, we are able to not listen the reality in any respect contained in the destiny only a detrimental imitation of it Titus a million:11 ESV they must be silenced, in view that they are scary total households by potential of practise for shameful income what they ought no longer to prepare

Since the Bible is the inspired word of Jehovah God, man had no right to change what was originally written. But, we now have it back again in the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.

Just goes to show all that these answers are uninformed opinions, when referring to Jesus(Kurios) is used, when LORD or GOD in all capital letters is used it refers to the Tetragrammaton (יהוה Yĕhovah).

There is no "J" in Hebrew, there is a "J" in English and ALL translators translate יהוה as Jehovah, it's the clergy that refuses Jehovah as God's name, this makes sense because Satan also hates God's name.

At Matt 6:9 Jesus says to make "HOLY" God's name & at John 17:25-26 Jesus says this: 25 Righteous Father (Jehovah), the world has, indeed, not come to know you; but I have come to know you, and these have come to know that you sent me forth. 26 And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.”

From a reasonable viewpoint would it be acceptable to remove God's name from his writings? It's an OUTSTANDING "NO" it is NOT acceptable and soon all that have will find this out when Jehovah speaks: Ezekiel 38:18-23 “‘And it must occur in that day, in the day when Gog comes in upon the soil of Israel,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘that my rage will come up into my nose. 19 And in my ardor, in the fire of my fury, I shall have to speak. Surely in that day a great quaking will occur in the soil of Israel. 20 And because of me the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and the wild beasts of the field and all the creeping things that are creeping on the ground and all mankind that are upon the surface of the ground will be bound to shiver, and the mountains will actually be thrown down and the steep ways will have to fall, and to the earth even every wall will fall.’ 21 “‘And I will call forth against him throughout all my mountainous region a sword,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah. ‘Against his own brother the sword of each one will come to be. 22 And I will bring myself into judgment with him, with pestilence and with blood; and a flooding downpour and hailstones, fire and sulfur I shall rain down upon him and upon his bands and upon the many peoples that will be with him. 23 And I shall certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.’

It is NOT changing God's word. LORD...with all four caps, means the ENTIRE FATHER KINGDOM. What this world does not know is that God consists of MANY MEMBERS, not just Jehovah.

God/LORD, is a FULL KINGDOM; just as human is a full kingdom.

So LORD covers this entire KINGDOM and is fully accurate. To say that every time a member of the God kingdom is mentioned, it should say 'JEHOVAH', is like saying every time someting is mentioned which was done in our human kingdom, it should say, 'Jack'.

The word, LORD, is more correct, for it shows the total UNITY AND LOVE of the God Kingdom. They are ALL ONE, just as we are SUPPOSED to be = all one = in their image.

But...MAN... wants glory...so will not come to this total ONENESS.

Jesus prayed we would all come to this... -= be ONE as they are ONE.

Now I know this truth is totaly missing today from the world, because of the all the false teaching going before. But it is still the truth. 1Cor 12.

The name Jehovah is not even an accurate pronunciation of the name YHWH. The different names of God are there for a reason: to show the attributes of God. In other words, to show his nature. You miss part of the picture of who God really is by substituting every name with Jehovah.
