Help, my avatar is driving me crazy. How can I change it?
I tried to change my avatar and didn't like the new one, but it showed up anyway! Now, not only does my computer hate me but so does Yahoo Answers! I finally got some pictures in my picture file, including one of the reservoir right below us. I wanted to use that as my avatar, but I cannot figure it out. Help!
Well, it worked. I am now a guinea pig -- lol. Thanks to all of you. I actually ended up printing out all of your answers and by trying parts of each of them, I finally figured out how to do this. It's been fun. I've been a cat, fish, ocean, and now a guinea pig. Thanks to all of you. Wish I could give you all best answer but since I cannot, I'll pick the 1st answer, just because it was first.

If you want a PROFILE PHOTO ...
1.Go to your profile on Yahoo! Pulse http://pulse.yahoo.com/
2.Move the cursor over your image, and then click the Change Photo link that appears.
◦If you don’t have a photo or avatar, the Browse window opens.
◦If you already have a photo or avatar, the Select Photo window opens. Click Add Photo to open the Browse window.
3.In the Browse window, find the photo you want (JPEG or PNG format and 5MB or smaller), type the displayed text in the box, and then click Upload. You’re returned to the Select Photo window where you can adjust the photo.
4.Adjust the dotted box to capture the area of the photo you want to use, and then click Crop. Your new photo is added to the photo carousel.
5.If you want to display the new photo in your profile, select it, and then click Use Selected Photo.
(Note: You must show link to profile page in order to show your profile picture.
This setting is now controlled across all Yahoo! properties from `Settings`–> `Privacy` and the `Manage Privacy Settings` page on Yahoo! Pulsehttp://pulse.yahoo.com/y/settings. Uncheck 'Hide my Profile')
To change it on Yahoo! Answers, Drag your cursor to the My Activity tab and click on Edit My Preferences or click on this link http://answers.yahoo.com/my-activity/edit/about
Below your username, click on the blue "Update Photo or Avatar". Select the photo you want from the photo carousel.

1st one for a pic, second for an avatar. Click on view my profile. Double click on your picture or avatar where it says change your picture.Box opens with options to upload a picture. Upload the picture from your computer, select it and you are done.
Go to edit my preferences at the top right of your home page. You will see a grey smiley marked get my avatar now. Click that and you can create your avatar on the page that opens.
Make sure your pulse is not set to private as that stops it from appearing,

Click "My Activity" at top of page
Select "Edit My Preferences"
Click "Update photo or avatar"
Follow instructions to select your photo/avatar
Click "Submit" on bottom of original page when done
To make a carton avatar:
Make sure your pulse profile is not hidden.
