Help with Sata HDD usb adapter and Xbox 360 S hard drive?

I'm trying to connect my Sata HDD usb adapter with my Xbox 360 S 250gb hard drive to my computer. My computer recognizes the usb adapter when I plug it into the usb but it does not seem to recognize the hard drive. When I go into disk management, all I see is disc 0 and it does not show me anything is inside of it and does not show it having any room left. I also don't see any option to initialize disk, which I read is needed so that Xport 360 will pick up the hard drive. I am running on Windows XP and my computer is old (beginnning of 2005). Anyone know what the problem is or think they can help? Or is my computer just too old?

Update:

Onion- What power cable are you referring to?

I think you are missing a power cable, the hard drive needs this to initialize. To get power you may need to open the xbox

hi, in case you connect an exterior annoying force on your xbox, format it to artwork with the xbox stay provider it is going to basically provide you 16GB of storage. (it is use to save offered video games, video clips, music, save records, copies of video games you very own.. remember some exterior hd do no longer artwork properly (are not quickly adequate) and can reason lag or crashes. Then in case you partition something of the force to fat 32 you are able to save your very own video clips, music, pictures (no longer offered from xbox industry) desire this helps joe
