I have everything, why am I depressed?

When you don't have it, you need it and it depresses you. When you have too much, material objects don't mean a thing to you and it depresses you.

I inherited 2.5 million dollars. I have a nice three room apartment that I bought from the land lord, fully furnished by Pier 1. A 2004 BMW M3. A black 2010 Cadillac CTS-v. An $8,000 Gibson guitar. And a months wardrobe of $1,000 custom tailored casual suites. A Rolex and silver rings for each finger to match my silver necklace and bracelets. And a girl friend that still wonders how I have the money for this stuff. I have everything I could want, why am I depressed?

I have never heard of any one being truly depressed over not having a big house or tv. Depression comes from not being content with who you are, what your going through or from a tragic event. Unless your clinically depressed there's an easy fix, improve your sense of self worth. Do something worth a dam. Something that when you see others do it you think that makes them some one you would want to be. And get active. Fix yourself before buying more things to fill that void.

All you're going to get here are stupid cliches like "money doesn't buy happiness" and "you're selfish", etc.

And I'd be very careful about "seeking help". I learned the hard way that such help doesn't really exist, at least not in the way you hope it does. Psychologists don't really know what they're doing, and they have a vested interest in keeping you coming back indefinitely - if they "cure" you (which they can't) they'll stop getting paid. And just forget about anti-depressants - they are really, really bad news.

I'll try to help you get to the bottom of things if you want - email me at j_aliyah@yahoo.com (and no, I won't try to sell you a religion or anything else... I just want to help because I can identify with you and have been dealing with depression for a long time).

You know the old saying "Money can't buy you happines"? You're living proof of that.

Instead of spending money on yourself all the time, try giving some time to the less fortunate. A smile and "thank you" of someone who has less is worth more than all your stuff.

Because the meanings have gone and the drive to succeed try doing some volunteering work to bring some meaning into your life and find your love for humanity and yourself

    That's a lot of stuff...

Depression can affect ANYONE. It doesn't matter how good or bad your life is. If you are feeling depressed seek help

Because you are very materialistic and self-centered. Get out there and help someone, and it will def make you feel better.
