Romans 6:23 - For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift god gives us is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our lord.
Read luke chapter 23, describes the events leading up to Jesus death and the death itself. After reading this, you will be able to discern wether he died for us physically or spiritually.
People die everyday, do they die physically or spiritually?- no brainer
What happens at death is no mystery to Jehovah, the Creator of the brain. He knows the truth, and in his Word, the Bible, he explains the condition of the dead. Its clear teaching is this: When a person dies, he ceases to exist. Death is the opposite of life. The dead do not see or hear or think. Not even one part of us survives the death of the body. We do not possess an immortal soul or spirit.*
6 After Solomon observed that the living know that they will die, he wrote: “As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” He then enlarged on that basic truth by saying that the dead can neither love nor hate and that “there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in [the grave].” (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10) Similarly, Psalm 146:4 says that when a man dies, “his thoughts do perish.” We are mortal and do not survive the death of our body. The life we enjoy is like the flame of a candle. When the flame is put out, it does not go anywhere. It is simply gone.
WHAT JESUS SAID ABOUT DEATH
7 Jesus Christ spoke about the condition of the dead. He did so with regard to Lazarus, a man whom he knew well and who had died. Jesus told his disciples: “Lazarus our friend has gone to rest.” The disciples thought that Jesus meant that Lazarus was resting in sleep, recovering from an illness. They were wrong. Jesus explained: “Lazarus has died.” (John 11:11-14) Notice that Jesus compared death to rest and sleep. Lazarus was neither in heaven nor in a burning hell. He was not meeting angels or ancestors. Lazarus was not being reborn as another human. He was at rest in death, as though in a deep sleep without dreams. Other scriptures also compare death to sleep. For example, when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death, the Bible says that he “fell asleep.” (Acts 7:60) Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote about some in his day who had “fallen asleep” in death.—1 Corinthians 15:6.

Jesus saves us from spiritual death: Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" This talks about physical death. We will all die one day; death is inevitable. "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body," 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. These verses talk about our soul. It is the soul that gets saved. Our souls have bodies, not our bodies have souls.

spiritual death. For it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this, the judgment. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
the only ppl who won't die the physical death are those that will be raptured out of here, so if ur alive when this takes place and you're saved by Christ, then you will not die.
anyway, all ppl (except raptured saints) will die physically, but only those who have rejected Jesus Christ as Savior will die the spiritual death as well, which is to spend eternity in the lake of fire in their new body that will never burn up, they will just wish it did.
hence the term Jesus used when speaking with Nicodemus, "you must be born again" this 2nd birth prevents the 2nd death (eternal hell) all people born of women will die once, but they don't have to die twice, if they'll just accept the finished work of God and follow what he says about new birth.
hope this helps, if not, what else u wanna know?

Those who have trusted Christ Jesus as Savior will be spared the spiritual death. Spiritual death is when the soul/spirit are separated from God for eternity (some call it hell, but I prefer the former to keep people from being smart butts if I use the term 'hell').
EVERYONE dies a physical death. Only those who have turned from God will die a spiritual death.

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!
There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!
He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?
Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!
Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!
At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!

The Bible states that the wages of sin is death and that death first came in due to the sin of Adam. But believers in Jesus are told in Colossians 2:13:
"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcison of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code, with its regulations that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to his cross."
This shows that even whilst physically alive, sinners are "dead in sins" - they are dead to God. But whilst in that hopeless state, Christ died so that the condemnation we are under can be cancelled and taken away. Those who put all their trust in Christ for that provision become not only spiritually alive due to that faith, they are adopted into the family of God as God's children. They become new-born spiritual babies (John 1:12-13, Jn 3 & Romans 8 first half).
So, really, they are not saved from spiritual death, because they were spiritually dead when Jesus rescued them from that condition! He effectively gave them a resurrection from spiritual death! Having thus been raised to spiritual life, they die no more - apart from dying physically, of course. We all have to die physically before we can go to be with Jesus because flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. We have to get glorified bodies, made fit for heaven, before we can live in heaven. The only exception to that will be for the Christians who are on Earth when Jesus returns. Such ones will be taken up bodily to join Christ. They will not die physically. A few others had such an experience in the Bible, like Enoch, and Elijah.
However, Jesus also triumphed over the grave! He will command the grave to 'give up' its content on the Day of Judgement so that resurrection bodies will be created and given to all who have died physically, who are to stand before His judgement throne. Then death and hades (hell) will be thrown into the eternal Lake of Fire so that there will no longer be any more dying. (Revelation 20:11-15) Thus Jesus saves believers from spiritual death and, at the end, physical death will also be removed.

While Jesus occasionally saves people from physical death via miracles, we all eventually die; we "go the way of all flesh" as they say. Remember that even Jesus himself died on the cross, but was resurrected from the dead; so we will be resurrected into spiritual life.

When we are saved from the spiritual death the physical death is irrelevant as it is only a graduation to full life with God.

Born once-die twice, born twice-die once.
The real death is the second death. Our physical bodies die. If we are "born again" we will only experience the physical death, not the second death that is the real death.
If a person is not born again, or "born from above" they will experience the 'second death' which is eternal separation from God.
