Kind of. You can get a silver account for free, but in order to do most things you need a gold membership.

You do have to fill out free surveys and earn points. Once you do enough stuff to earn enough points, you can use them to buy xbox live, microsoft points, games, controllers, etc. for 100% free. I use the site. I'm on it every day. You even get 250 points for signing up.

No. Unlike the Playstation, you have to pay 7-8 dollars (last I checked, atleast) a month to play online. Plus you'll need a cord from your router to the system, or a $90 wi-fi adapter on the older models.
