Copied from the site listed below: It looks like you have to know what type it is to answer your question.

Two types of mites produce canine mange, and each type has characteristic symptoms

    Demodectic mange

Also called demodicosis or Red Mange, demodectic mange in dogs is caused by a sensitivity to and overpopulation of Demodex canis as the animal's immune system is unable to keep the mites under control. There are two types of demodectic mange: localized and generalized. Localized consists of 4 spots or less. Most dogs are immune to demodectic mange, however dogs with compromised immune systems and the elderly are at a higher risk. It is not contagious to humans.

    Sarcoptic mange

Also known as canine scabies, sarcoptic mange is a highly contagious infestation of Sarcoptes scabiei canis, a burrowing mite. The canine sarcoptic mite can also infest humans (scabies), cats, pigs, horses, sheep and various other species.

These mites dig into and through the skin, causing intense itching and crusting that can quickly become infected. Hair loss and crusting frequently appear first on elbows and ears. Skin damage can occur from the dog's intense scratching and biting. Secondary skin infection is also common. Dogs with chronic sarcoptic mange are often in poor condition.

    Treatment

Dogs affected with demodectic mange do not need to be isolated from other dogs. Demodectic mange is generally only contagious from mother to pup during suckling. Demodectic mange is not contagious after weaning. Many puppies will grow out of demodectic mange as their immune systems mature. Demodectic mange can re-occur if the immune system is compromised such as after steriod treatment or other immune-compromising illness. Treatment with ivermectin is often prescribed by vets along with skin scrapings. Ivermectin is often continued until two negative skin scrapings are achieved.

In cases of Sarcoptic mange, affected dogs need to be isolated from other dogs and their bedding, and places they have occupied must be thoroughly cleaned. Other dogs in contact with a diagnosed case should be evaluated and treated.

there is no real thing as foxy mange. It will be either demodectic or sarcoptic and yes it IS contagious. I hope she has been to the vet and is getting treatment for it as it can actually lead to her dog sufferring terrible. If you use stronghold (revolution in USA and Australia) drops on your dog, this will help protect her agains one form of mange mite but I cannot recal which. You need to ask your daughter which mange it has (no such thing as foxy) It'll be either sarcoptic or demodectic and ask if it is being treated by the vet. Failure to treat is a prosecutable offence by the RSPCA. BTW ordinary medicated shampoo will NOT treat it since the mites live deep inside the skin. She needs to get something like 'aludex' (in the UK)

Depends on the type of mange the dog has. Some types are contagious to other dogs, yes, and even to humans! And yes, i would assume that it could be transferrable through clothes or even objects used/touched by other dogs.

It depends on the mange, some are contagious. If the mange is contagious then it can be spread by contact with clothing etc.

demodex mange.. almost all dogs carry thise mite. It causes an issue when the dog has immunity problems and the mite takes over. Not really "contagious".. naturally mothers pass this mite onto their newborn puppies thru close contact.

sarcoptic mange is contagious- very contagious. its called scabies in humans.

Sarcoptic mange is contagious to both dogs and people. Demodectic mange is not.
