CAN YOU DEVELOP ASTHMA AT 19 YEARS OLD?
ok first off, I'm a competitive college soccer player. I AM IN SHAPE, 19 yrs old, 135 lbs...but...the past 2 weeks I get winded on stairs
At practive the other night it was -2 degrees Celcius (not including the wind chill), and we were doing sprints for like 15 min (long time for sprints) and I swear i felt like my lungs wanted to burst through my rib cage, I thought I was going to pass out hyperventalating! I seriously couldn't catch my breath for the life of me for like 5 min! and it STILL feels like that my lungs are CONSTRICTED everytime I inhale! I feel it in my back and in my chest ESPECIALLY taking a deep breath.
Can your sports bra constrict your lungs/rib cage??? (I wear 2 even though I'm only a B)
Could it be the cold, dense air?
OR COULD I BE DEVELOPING ASTHMA????? I thought you had to be born with it.
btw I have played soccer since I was 3 years old, I've been in shape my whole life.

You can develop or grow out of asthma whenever your body feels like it. I was born with a very severe case it and grew out of it, but i really think it was just the cold air..cold air + exercise=no no..

Asthma is an allergy and is triggered by something. The best non medication treatment for asthma is learning your triggers and avoiding them. Common triggers are smoke, dust, mold, mildew, plants, dust mites, pets and grass/weeds.
If you can not figure our your triggers, you may need to see an allergist and have allergy screening done. This may point out your triggers.
The National Asthma Prevention Program and the Expert Panel of Diagnosis and Management of Asthma both agree if you have to use a prescription inhaler such as albuterol more then two time per week, your asthma is NOT in control and you will need a prescription controller medication.
Controller medications are steroids (Asthmacort Asthmanex, Flovent, Pulmocort), Leukotriene modifier (Singulair, Aculade, Zyflo) or mast cell stabilizers (Cromolyn sodium, Intal, Tilade).
You may want to talk to your doctor about several strong controller medications and maybe Xolair shots.
If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.
