Who funds Global Warming research?
I hear so much about Big Oil like Exxon funding and steering the deniers side of the argument for their own personal profit.. I got to thinking... who funds and steers the AGW side THEIR own personal profit?
Heres a few I found:
- The Heinz Endowments
- The Rockefeller Foundation
- The Turner Foundation
- The Energy Foundation
Any others? I think we can leave states and federal govts out.

If you pay taxes, you do. The vast majority of climate research is paid for through federal research grants to individuals at recognized institutions of higher learning. Also, some is paid for by compaies which fund specific research by deducting the cost from their tax liability, for both federal and state taxes. Also there is significant research done at government funded institutions, such as NASA and NOAA. And of course internationally, the IPCC is endowed with taxpayers money from several countries, in order to fund their research.
So, even though you do not want to include state and federal governments, they are funding the vast majority of the research involving climate change.
So, look in the mirror, by proxy, you are funding it.

The vast majority of climate research is carried out with federal funding.
I apologize, but I could only find this biased report from a denier website that breaks down funding from different agencies.

FOY 2011 total is ~2.5 billion dollars in research money.
Smaller research foundations may contribute money to research but are often matched dollar for dollar by federal funds.
The Marshall Institute found that private organizations devote 35-50 million per year to funding AGW research at institutes and Universities.

George Soros tossed some money at James Hansen. All I can think of...
But one thing these warmers miss about "big oil." They are going to make money, no matter what. What fuel is slated to replace gasoline? Ethanol? Bio-diesel? Natural gas? Liquid Petroleum? What infrastructure is ready to replace gasoline?
With Obama promising to phase out new coal fired plants, people like me who see nuclear energy as the much greater evil to Co2, solar is a joke, wind is a joke. Space based solar held a lot of promise, but Carter killed that R&D in the 70's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space-based_solar_pow... So what is left? Natural gas, hydroelectric (where feasible), what else is their?
And look at all the petroleum based products, outside of fuels and lubricants. Ignacy Łukasiewicz is as important a name as Nikola Tesla, when you stop and consider the quality of life you enjoy.
"The evil Oil Companies" is just ridiculous. It would not surprise me a bit to learn that they were playing both sides of this AGW debate every step of the way.
You bring up an excellent point, which is why I gave you a star.

Well just for a clue Exxon/Mobil is the Rockefeller foundation along with Chase Bank. If it were not for the desire for increased profits by those of the list you supplied above science would be warning people to prepare for severe cooling because of the low solar activity that is allowing the planet to cool. But the religion liberal never studies science just religion and so does not realize this scientific connection of their god to the worlds climate.

Federal Prosecuting Attorney: Mr Capone, you paid peanuts in taxes, yet you have three penthouses, four chauffered tinted-window limos, and six mistresses in furs. Where did you get all the money to live so lavishly?
Al Capone: Why robba banks? cause that's where the mooolah is, I mean, WHAT? You furrener socialist manbearpig! Whatta givin me allathat lip, pryin' into my private affairs! Religious alarmust (sic)! ! Elitist !!! Who funds and steers your copper side for their personal gain, anyway? I think we can leave the federal government out because your designation as a federal prosecutor is obviously the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on us honest, law-abiding and diligent students of fiscal policy in Chicago.
Warden: Welcome to Alcatraz prison, Mr. Capone.

I think we know what side of the isle big Ketchup stands on. Heinz Carey and Lurch who almost became president a while back is obviously far left of center. Turner is an idiot.

Don't forget that we fund much of it with our tax payer dollars. I don't mind funding research. I don't like my money going to those who are pushing a leftist agenda by exaggerating AGW.

More than 100 billion of the worlds eco tax dollars are being funnelled into this propaganda machine. This is why there are so many papers promoting a connection to global warming in every walk of life. You can see where our Eco Taxdollars are spent in the below link to hundreds of stupid global warming studies and links to the original study.... You need to see it to believe it!

There is a huge amount of money slushing around in the green business as can be seen by the fact that the inefficient costly greentech industry in China alone could be worth 1 trillion dollars!!!!
