Information on DVD ripping?
I have home movies on DVDs that I would like to have as files on my computer (they are NOT copyrighted, and I have full rights to distribute them and put them onto my computer.) So I have a few questions:
1) How do I get the DVD onto my computer as a file?
2) Do I need a DVD Ripping software?
3) If so, do you know any good, *free* ones that don't cause viruses?
*4*) If I rip the DVD to my computer, will the disc be damaged?

1) see 2
2) Yes
3) Handbrake (do they have that for windows?)
4) No, the disc will be unchanged.
You may also use a image creator such as magicISO to make a disc image (.iso) which keeps the entire disc as is at the expense of file space. Mplayer and VLC can play these images

Use Rip DVD Plus. It is the best software for ripping DVD’s to your computer. It is super easy to use and works very well for me.
