Any suggestions, my cat is missing? In a panic.?
My sweet Libby Lou, previous feral cat has gotten out some how. I am absolutely sick with worry. She's indoor only since we rescued her. We had a flood night before last and were up with the shop vac cleaning up water from 5 or 6 am. My cats hate it and always hide. So when I left for work at noon I hadn't seen either one but that's normal. When I got home last night I found Fred, still hiding and pouting but locatable in a bedroom. Still no LuLu. We did take some wet rugs out during the clean up but I never saw her near the door nor did my daughter. We searched every indoor hiding place and then outside in the dark for hours. We live on a lake (gators) near a walking trail. She has never been out there and has to be terrified. I am losing it. I know you guys can't help me but since I'm crying I needed to tell some one who cares. i'm getting signs with pictures printed to post through the complex and have put a sign with her name, description and my location and number by the mail kiosks.
Is there any thing else you think I should do?
She is friendly and sweet but I don't know if she would go to any one this afraid. I must be the dumbest cat mom every to not know she was gone for 18 hours.
I know this is a huge post, sorry. I just needed to vent. Thanks if you take the time to read.
Fred Head and Libby Lou's panicked person.
Lexa, yes she is a very good hider also and I'm praying she is doing so. We have had her wander out after hours of us calling more than one time. With that sleepy look on her face like, "whats the big fuss?"But she is also the most vocal cat ever. There must be siamese in her from some where because she talks non stop. Even asleep when you call her name she make that huuuu purring sound.
She also needs to be with Fred for lots of cuddle sessions several times a day so this seems bad.
We got her right after my Jetta died from an neurological problem and I can't bear the thought of losing her too.
Thanks every one. Now I'm crying because your being nice. Just can't seem to not cry today. I needed the understanding so much. Thanks more than I can say.
We found the brat at 9:30 last night. Thank heavens! She was in the landscaping and terrified The sprinklers had come on and scared her closer to the porch. We all got wet and dirty but are safe. Too many tears flowing here. We brought her in and she fussed and fussed at us like it was our fault. Brat cat.
Thank you all.

Not your fault:
My daughters cat got out she felt the same you did.
I told her the cat is scared but he is not far away.
A day later she found the cat hiding in a bush in her back yard
Put something the cat is familiar with for scent.
That will calm the cat down & slowly your cat will head towards home.

Yes, she may well be hiding in your house. I wouldn't give it too many more hours before you'll have to assume the worst, though. If that happens, place a humane trap by the door where you think she escaped. Bait it with Kentucky Fried Chicken.
If she is outside, she is very likely right in the vicinity of your house. Look everywhere for her. If your cat was wearing a Cat Flasher, you would find her really fast. I'm the inventor of the Cat Flasher and I've helped many people in your position over the years as a hobbyist pet detective. That's why I invented it. Go here for a lot of other tips http://catflasher.com/ but, hopefully, she'll just come out of hiding from within your house. Preserve some bedding that has her scent in a double plastic bag just in case you decide to hire a tracker dog.
Good luck,

I have had a few cats go missing in my life. It is so frightening and tragic. You should keep going to your local humane society in case she is turned in there. Many shelters in the country will only hold animals for 3 days so at the very least go at least every other day. They will probably have a bulletin board up that you can post a picture to. Do not rely on them to save your kitty if you just give them a description and picture. Most are run by volunteers who seldom ever check on such things. Walk around your neighborhood in the early evenings calling her name and listen hard for her to answer. I had a big tom cat who went missing a lot. Once he was locked in a neighbor's shed for 2 days before I found him and had them unlock the shed to let him out. That same tom cat once left in May and didn't return until September, so don't give up your search easily. There is still a chance that you will find your Libby.

It's quite possible that LuLu is still inside, just a master at hiding.
When I took my cats from MI to AZ (car trip, 5 days), each day my siamese would find a new place to hide that took the cake. In Indianapolis, security finally found her INSIDE the bed frame. In Oklahoma, she managed to crawl into the backside of some TV furniture that HAD BEEN NAILED TO THE WALL. They had to physically remove it from the wall to get her out. To this day I have no idea how she got in there. I call her Houdini.
Does she have a favorite food? Like some wet food she likes as a treat? Put it out. Cats that are stressed won't eat or drink, but the smell may attract her (dry food doesn't have much smell, but you could try it).
If she used to be feral, she knows how to take care of herself outside. She won't go far.
Keep calling her, say every hour.
I know one time when my cats were outside and it had gotten dark and I was sure Houdini was still outside, I kept calling and calling... and she finally answered, from INSIDE the house!!! Looking all innocent, like "mom, why are you making such a fuss?"
I know that dreadful feeling in the pit of your stomach... We have coyotes, wild dogs and bobcats here in Phoenix!
Good luck!

I used to house sit for a family that had an adopted feral cat and she was a master at hiding! It wouldn't surprise me if the cat is still in the house. Try closing all room doors to prevent her from traveling any further and search thoroughly. I've had my cats manage to get into closets and lock themselves in. So search and leave nothing unturned.
Try leaving her favorite wet food out. Post ads everywhere, including Craigslist. Check found pet ads.

1) Call all pounds in your area with description or your cat & #.
2) Post an ad in your local newspaper. Our town will post it for free if it's a lost pet.
3) Posters is a good way to go about it.
4) Craigslist if it's available in your city, is a good place to ask people to find lost pets.
5) Sometimes cats will just find their way back. Put her food out on porch or step or just outside door if possible.
I do understand. And I'm so sorry this is happening to you. *hugs* It's okay. Everything will be okay. Thank you for caring so much.
Hope it all works out!

maybe you can also post on craigslist by state. i have seen animals returned home after being posted on there. if she did get out. but as another posted, it is very possible she may still be in the house hiding. stress can be very harsh to a cat. keep goin outside and hollaring for her. also around the house. they can hear you from a long way. and when she finally feels safe, she will come out. also pray. alot. and try to think positive. i know its hard, but its all you can do. i wish you lots of luck in finding your baby. my prayers are with you both.

You say you've got another cat, how about putting the second cat into a cat basket and put that out on the porch. One might call to the other the scent would be around. Might be worth trying.
