Which brand still produces miniDV handy-cams?
I want to buy Sony handycam which uses miniDV cassette. But i want to know are these handycams are still produced by Sony or they stopped?
i want to buy new one. not old or 2nd hand?
help!
Sony is producing crap and all other brands are following sony
3 , 4 years ago they started dvd handycams and stopped the production last year
now they are producing hdd handycams...in the nexxtt 2 3 years they will come up with somthing new? HDD takes alot of space to store

You ask the question as if you think they are on the way out.
Canon, Sony, (two makes that I like the most for Tape based cameras) but ahve a few in their range, both in the cheaper range but more in the higher price range, depending on what you want to spend, will dictate if you have HD or not.
Both HDD and flash drives take up a fair bit of room on your hard drive to archive. Obviously if you plan to keep the video on the tape to archive, its the cheapest and safest way to store them (providing you look after them) If you decide to archive the tapes on a hard drive you will save nothing 60mins of DV will be around 12-13gb.
Quality is better on HDV then flash or HDD less compression.
Again with no budget its impossible to suggest a model. Have a look on Sony and Canon websites and go from there
