Canon EOS 60D vs. Nikon D7000, which one is better? and why?

I'm going to buy my first D-SLR next month and I like the Canon 60D. However, I also found the D7000 by Nikon is not bad too, the price is not much difference… it's very difficult to decide, please give me some ideas. Which one you think is better? why?

I had the same decision to make as you and I went with the 60D with an 18-200mm lens which, when compared to a D700 with a similar lens, was $700 cheaper. I thought the 60D felt better in my hands since it's the larger camera. Also the flip screen is very nifty. Keep in mind that today both cameras are described as "enthusiast" cameras but 4 or 5 years ago both cameras would be the BEST cameras you could ever buy.

Either of them are brilliant cameras, the 60D is more of a downgrade compared to the 50D but still a great camera.

Go to a shop and handle them and see which one you can get the hang of and feels right. Also check out the lenses that you require for your photography as one lens from Canon may be better than the same from Nikon and vice versa.

I'm a Sony user by the way so I'm in no way biased :)

The d7000 is an entry level camera and the 60d is an amateur/enthusiast level camera. The 60d is going to be made of better materials. I would go with the 60d.

Personally, I like Canon cameras. You get a little bit more bang for the buck. The lenses are sharper and cheaper, and they feel better in your hand.
