Anyone can have asthma. It's extremely serious. I'm a first responder and two years ago we went on a medical aid call. By the time we got there the patient had died. He was 62. Since I live in the mountains, response time can be long especially if the weather is bad. I know many people who moved close to town because it's dangerous to be that far from a hospital or medical care. If handled quickly and appropriately an asthma attack can be treated and lives saved.

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?

My 86 year old mother has asthma. It began to bother her when she was in her late 60's. Up until that time, she was very active and had no lung problems. Inhalers help a lot, but stress seems to aggravate the problem.

My nephew who is in his 30's has had asthma since he was a child, but he managed to play high school football and this year he ran and completed the Chicago Marathon. I am very proud of him and his accomplishments.

    Asthma still does effect people.

My brother was diagnosed many years back (55years) and was always treated to the best of everything and told to rest and do nothing. My sister and I suffered nutrition wise as everything that was nourishing was given to my brother and not us. My family the same as everyone else at that time was very poor and just managed to survive.

Now days they say exercise is best for this complaint. It's true! Fresh air and the exercise of the lungs of breathing in and out is the best medicine for asthma. Plus they have inhalers now days. He did grow out of it, but played on it for many years for the sympathy vote

I wasn't diagnosed with it until about 6 years ago. The building I worked with had a mildew problem and I believe that was what started it. I am doing much better this past month, stopped drinking coffee and using sugar and started walking many miles using liquid peppermint drops (the tiny little bottle of Sweet Breath or equivalent) to help open up my airways. Not gasping when I walk now or hearing that noise when I lay down to sleep at night.

I never had problems with asthma until I got older and my allergies worsened. They say I am not a true asthmatic, but when things get right with pollens...I am a sufferer too!
