How to fill a memory stick with only the files it doesn't have on it?

My computer is so slow at copying files it's ridiculous. I want to back up my photos but with only the missing files on the memory stick, is that even possible?

Of course it is. To do so, you would need a file/folder comparison tool. There are quite a number of these tools on the net, open source or not. One open source tool is WinMerge (http://winmerge.org/).

So in your case, you just tell the program which folders you want to compare (say, your "My Pictures" folder on one side and your memory stick on the other), and click Synhcronize. All done.

You can as when you copy, it will ask if you wish to overwrite existing files.

But.. if you have lots of photos, a memory stick may not fit as they are not great on capacity.
