    put them both in standard form (ax + by = c):

    11x - 2y = -1

    -8x + 3y = 10

    eliminate the y variables by multiplying the top equation by 3, the bottom equation by 2, then add:

    33x - 6y = -3

    -16x + 6y = 20

    ____________

    17x = 17

    x = 1

    find y by substituting 1 for x in either equation, then check with the other equation:

    3y = 10 + 8(1)

    3y = 18

    y = 6

    check:

    11(1) = 2(6) - 1

    11 = 11

    solution: (1,6)

    that's it! ;)
