Please help! Genetic engineering question!?

I have to explain how genetic engineering is done in a biology essay. Here's what I wrote: "This is done by using a restriction enzyme to break DNA into fragments, then using an electric current to separate said fragments by their size in a process called gel electrophoresis. The fragments are extracted from the gel and bonded with the DNA of another organism. "

Is that at all correct? I'm really not sure.
