Going to the grocery store, grocery list?
Hi!,
This week is PMS for me, and I'm having cravings for sweet things, which I am trying to stay away from, but I need to go grocery shopping. 1) What are some things that I can have that will satisfy my craving (fruit doesn't work, I've tried it) without eating too terribly. 2) What are some healthy staples to include on my grocery list that I can buy on a college student budget? I'm trying to stay away from "atkins" products because I know they aren't too healthy, and they're expensive, also, I'm not a meat eater, I have lettuce already, I'm just not sure what else to buy that will fill me up, and be healthy. I should also add that I'm a recovered anorexic and re-learning how to eat, and what to eat.
Also, has anyone ever tried star-fruit?

Fruits, veggies, fish, whole grains, eggs, nuts...
Proteins will fill you up! Also drink water before your meal, it will help fill you up as well.
They say to shop on the OUTSIDE rim of the grocery stores to avoid unhealthy food.
For cravings try -
100 cal packs of chocolate cookies
Chocolate Special K
Look in the freezer section for chocolate, or frozen treats that are low cal
Yogurt

I love to talk to people that are in the PMS. It seems that I know so much about you already. You are a college student, not a meat eater, was once anorexic, you try to maintain healthy eating habits, and you would like to have a few sweets right now.
Okay.. Great! You mention that fruit doesn't work.. you've already tried. Okay.. try more and different fruits. Fruits that you haven't tried in a while or even fruit that you may have never even tasted.
You may also benefit from juices, teas, etc. Maybe a sweet tasting healthy drink.
Yogurt
Smoothie
Sweet Potatoes
Walnuts

For a healthy sweet-tooth fix, have you tried yogurt? I really like pre-flavored greek yogurt...its a little expensive, but is high in protein and really kicks a sweet craving for me because its really thick- I pretend its ice cream : )
Also, you can try kettle popcorn (if you havent had it before, it has sugar on it instead of salt and butter).
If its just a little sweet craving a good salad dressing might work. Since you have lettuce already, how about tomatoes or cucumber? Also- mandarin oranges are really good on salad.
