Eternal Religion. What are your thoughts about this?

"I am not preaching any new religion. I have come to preach the religion which occurred at the time of Creation, and that is the Sanatana Dharma- the Eternal Religion. I have come to preach the Sanatana Dharma only." March, 25, 1982 per Sri Babji

How does this statement impact you? In the Jewish Mishna, Tikkun Olam explains how heaven became shattered through the world, God's creation of Life. Are we too splintered now to ever be able to return to our original unity?

Honestly, I can't say that this statement impacts me much at all. Of course it is obvious that spirituality is inherent in the human condition, ergo there was a time when all spirituality was unified independently of religion. I can accept that. All humans have a taste of the truth, and an inherent understanding of God. But, still, the fact that someone claims to have the original religion is unsurprising, and doesn't affect me. Every shaman claims that. The quest for the universal religion has been going on for some time now--just look at the Theosophical Society.

I am a Christian. I understand that all people were divinely inspired. I understand that this means that shamanism is a functioning system, and that those affiliated with Vedanta have access to the divine, but that doesn't affect me at all. I have genuinely experienced the love of God, through gnosis, and I have done so through this one tradition, so I have no reason to forsake it. The diversity of the human brotherhood is not offensive to me in any way, so long as I see sincere seeking.

Tut not a new religion, humph. I read some of the www. pages...and yes I know what its talking about. Yet the original unity is to be one with oneself then one can be at one with everything else.

I read an answer that speaks of ego, yet this has nothing to do with the little personal ego.

To be one with the greatness of all things is a pleasure.

We all live in fractured communities because of drugs and drink, the personal ego, others personal ego needs and drives impinging on others.

The togetherness I remember did exist in my young day but drugs and drink were not the reason for the cause or for living.

There will always be discreet pockets of those with dharma. Discreet because to be otherwise attracts those who have destructive needs.

Unity is inevitable. We are all one right now, but are unaware for the most part due to the illusion of separation we agree to before we are born into this part of life. Namaste

No need to overthink things anymore. Like Fireball said, Jesus simplified it for everyone! :)
