I need ideas for a cake bakery name!!!?
I'm 15 and cake baking is my passion and I want to open a kind of side bakery to make some money. Im really good at what I do. I make all the cake for my friends birthdays and mine. I have so much spare time so I thought I might as well start my own little business. But Im am so stuck trying to figure out a name.
I have a few ideas but I don't think they are all that great.
Sweet cakery
midnight cakery
sunny cakes
rainy day cakery.
so your ideas would be much loved!!!
I would like cakery in it
... I do not need a commersial kitchen. Mine has already been checked out and approved thank you very much.

Closed by Authority of the Health Department?
You cannot run a bakery out of your home. The health department has strict codes - many involve being able to hose down the kitchen. I doubt your home kitchen would pass inspection.
If you're just baking for your friends, you don't really need a full blown name.

I think it is inspiring to hear your story!
I have had a few small businesses in my time and the name is always the most fun and challangeing :) Some pointers I have found helpful in general for business is most importantly know your consumer - so many times what I thought was great did not fly for my consumer demographic. Always remember its not about you, its about your consumer and what image your business is portraying. Don't get carried away with abstraction. Keep it simple. Also I would recommend not limiting yourself to cakery - meaning you may expand out of cakes. So you may want to consider using a more general term in your name. You may consider how the name works in conjunction with a logo - What would a logo for rainy day cakery look like?
I know naming can be a daunting task and you probably want something unique and cutsey - but if you think about some of the most successful bakeries the names are simple and not overly obscure. A couple of the most successful bakeries here in Michigan have the owners name worked into them - Zingerman's bakery and Sweet Lorraines. I personally have never been a fan of rhyming business names - can you think of a successful business whose name rhymes?
Also, as one of the others mentioned, if you do take this business out of the friends and family network, you will need to work from a commercial kitchen or one that has been approved by the health department. However, I don't want to discourage you from your goals - just something to keep in mind. At one time I sold an edible product. I was fortunate enough to be friends with an owner of a restaurant so I used his kitchen. However, if you decide to take your business to the next level you may want to call around to banquet halls, american legions, vfw, etc.. They generally have commerical kitchens and may even rent them to you - doesn't hurt to ask.
Lastly, when I was a new business owner I thought so much rode on the name - but in reality it is the quality of your product and service that will keep clients returning - keep it simple, don't fear failure, and learn from your mistakes.
Good Luck
