Walking with weights to tone thighs (lose subcutaneous fat)?

I have been walking 2 to 5 miles every day and I've seen a big difference in my thighs (which have a lot of subcutaneous fat.) However, I'm still having trouble losing and i know a lot of the 10 pounds I have to lose is due to the fat in my thighs. I want to know if walking with weights would be helpful. However, my knee still bothers me from having a dislocated knee cap when I was younger so I don't know if the weights would hurt my knee. If weights aren't a good option I would love any other ideas for losing thigh fat while walking. (I already do other workouts, including lunges, so don't mention them!)

    Since you have a bad knee, I wouldnt do anything to aggravate it like using ankle weights. However- you should be able to use hand weights. Try walking with a one-lb weight in each hand, or wrist weights, and maybe move up to a five-lb weight in each hand.

    For an alternate exercise, have you tried Pilates? I like Winsor Pilates videos myself- she does a lot of really excellent leg exercises that are zero impact.

    Excess weight or obesity is by far the number one health concern in this country.

    Sixty percent of Americans are either overweight or obese, including over 20 percent of teenagers.

    Don't waste your time. Focus on cleaning up your diet and increasing the intensity of your workouts. Since you have a bad knee, swimming and bike/elliptical are good alternatives.
