Laptop headphone jack broken?
I had headphones plugged into my laptop and it fell onto the ground, right on the headphone jack. The headphone's male plug-in broke the "female" connection (the port on the laptop where you plug in headphones/speakers). I am wondering where I can get a replacement. I am assuming I could take it to a shop, but it would cost over $100 likely, so I would rather do it myself. The piece broken looks like it is just the outer ring that goes around the male connector and then the two copper pieces on either side on the inside look a little out of place

A set of USB headphones would save you on the money it would cost to have that jack professionally replaced...
you could also purchase a separate usb sound device with its own 3.5mm stereo headphone jack
option three is to pick up a book on say A+ hardware and software...or perhaps a lap top repair book... order away for the appropriate replacement part... solder away the old and in the new then close it all back up again
hope this helps
Some sound drivers and audio software allows for the re-tasking of audio jacks ...
If you have this feature you can change your mic or line in to your stereo out

On laptops this is soldered onto the motherboard directly. Unless you're good with a soldering iron and willing to pull your laptop apart you're better off buying a usb sound card instead. The plastic bezels you have to pull to access the motherboard on most laptops may become broken or scratched when you pull it apart yourself. I included a link so you can see what one looks like, you can buy it cheaper on ebay.

I could be wrong, but I think the headphone jack is part of the motherboard on most laptops. If that's the case you're **** out of luck :|

You would have to go in side to fix it. I would suggest you do take it to a shop to get a estimate. Taking a laptop a part is not fun.

You must repair it or buy new one.
