How to let my friends know I want a birthday gift politely?

I am going to have a birthday party and invite 6 friends. The first year my friends and I started hanging out I got them each a birthday gift. Then the very next month when it was my b day noone got me a gift. So I thought we were not exchanging gifts so I stopped getting them one. The thing is whenever they have birthday celebrations we always go out to eat and pay for our own meal. My party I am having this month I am renting a karaoke room and paying for each of their dinners. Also my friend got one friend a gift this month and we did the dinner thing. I was thinking of sending out a wishlist to hint that I want a gift but I don't want to be tacky. What should I do?

There is NO WAY to ask for gifts without sounding tacky. If you tried to send me a 'hint' like that I certainly wouldn't get you anything and if I already had something, I would consider returning it. If you want to give gifts to your friends, do so. If you're only giving them gifts so that they give back to you, then you've missed the whole point of gift giving. If they don't give to you, tough. Let it go.

Why are you paying for everyone's dinner on your birthday? That should not be happening; in this situation. And yes, wish list are rude and tacky. Your not a child anymore. Wish list are for kids who still believe in Santa Clause.

I'm afraid there is no polite way to ask for a birthday gift. If you're out shopping with someone, you might mention this "whatever" is really cool or something like that. Any more than that is just vulgar.

Tacky, it is downright rude. I NEVER NEVER expect people to buy my gifts. What a nerve. Maybe they do not buy for you because they do not really like you.

post it on facebook...and they didn't buy you a gift because they probably really don't like you.
