How can I fix my wireless driver seemingly uninstalling itself?
I recently reformatted my Asus G73 with windows 7 pro 64, and windows automatically detected the wireless card driver, a Atheros AR9285. However whenever the computer goes into sleep mode or shuts down the wireless driver seems to disable itself, until the driver is uninstalled. I've tried installing the driver manually, but have not had any luck. Could the VPN client im using be conflicting.

a.Actually EZ reformatted is a word. I reformatted and installed windows 7 on the newly formatted partition.
b. Yes, it can. In windows automatically detects and installs drivers for some software. Windows automatically detected the card and installed an appropriate driver.
Also I have tried the AR9285 driver from the Asus site with no luck-"installing the driver manually".

Google to find " ASUS Drivers Update Utility".
It can scan your computer, listing and installing the newest drivers for your PC automatically.
Of course if you have further questions, you can write to me.
Good Luck.

a) reformatted isn't a word. format is to prepare a drive for data, reformat would be to do this again.
b) a driver cannot self instal/uninstall
c) yes, the vpn could be causeing issues
d) check the settings in the wifi and try different sttings like "dont allow this hardware to turn off'
you may mean restored ( a windows function of turning back settings installations to a previous time) or recover ( a manufacturer's re-installation of the os and included software). when you do this, you sometimes get wifi drivers which aren't really for the system, sometimes, you need to go to the manufacturers web site and downlaod their driver. i almost never use the generic drivers from ms for graphics, NICs or wifi.
