Help me translate this German poem please?

The original:

LSchelnd scheidet der Tyran

Denn er weiss, nach seinem Tode

Wechselt WillkŸr nur die HSnde

Und die Knechtschaft hat kein Ende.

I think HSnde should be hande, Tyran should be Tyrann, and WillkŸr should be Willkur. I don't speak any German, and I can't tell if this means

The tyrant dies smiling

Because he knows that after his death

Arbitrariness only changes hands

And slavery has no end.

Or something completely different. The third line doesn't make much sense. Thanks in advance!

    Your translation is correct.

The third line too, but in English you probably would change the word "Arbitrariness" with "Power" (or something similar)

    The tyrant dies smiling

Because he knows that after his death

    "power" only changes hands

    and slavery has no end.

The meaning of "Arbitrariness" is just the power of the ruler, that he can do what ever he wants with his "slaves"...

Denn er weiß nach seinem Tode

    Wechselt Willkür nur die Hände

Und die Knechtschaft hat kein Ende

hi Mr i does not difficulty even attempting to translate your suited poem. Poems are very annoying to translate, the evidence is right here interior the solutions you acquire so some distance, maximum of them are from a seek device besides. in simple terms write the poem down in English and deliver it to her or supply her it. actual you do communicate in English, do no longer you? So she would be able to comprehend and if no longer all of it, she would be able to consistently translate it for herself. on the translations given right here the finished thing with regard to the words it completely lost, and the text fabric will become ridiculous. Make English your language of love in case you do no longer communicate German - she'll get exhilaration from it! McGonagall
