I was super p-i-ss-ed off when I read it some weeks ago.

If all of your senses are telling you she is wrong, you are right.

Notice in the article, other than the children's names and the tale of how she 'taught/tortured them, she says nothing else about her own children. Like Sophia and Lulu were not her children, but an extension of her.

If you read other articles of mother's and their kids...the mother does complain about their bad habits but also says something good about them and maybe their cute side too.

She, Amy Chua can be called overdriven, callous, and yes delusional. And her children to her, are mere vessels of her flesh not...individuals. They might as well be called Amy Chua no1 and no2.

Yes, there are successful Chinese kids with super strict parents but do any of them really shook the world or tried something new? If anything, they'll be famous for a number of years and forgotten at the next generation.

If we look at the west...anyone knows them and their genius ideas and they'll be remembered for all eternity and yes be written in the text books.

Of course there is one thing Amy Chua is right, that many Western parents are too soft. But saying that her methods were right is also wrong. I think parenting should be a balance of soft and strictness and used at an appropriate time. And what sort of ideas you want your children to stick with (like be wise with money, don't have sex before marriage).

If you wish to be Queen Bee and have mindless drones, choose Amy Chua's method but be warned that you would be killing the soul.

The article about mothers was just stupid to begin with. Usually the strict upbring up asian children are by both mothers and fathers...rarely mother or father alone. Yet this b itch made it about mothers. That alone discredit anything she said and solidify her being a b itch.
