Do people go out of their way to make others' lives miserable?
On the personality assessment inventory, there was this item that says "People go out of their way to make my life miserable." I put "false" to this item. Is this the usual response? What happens to people who put an unusual response to that item?

Agreeing to that answer would show you are paranoid and/or blame others for your problems instead of accepting responsibility yourself. You answered correctly.

Since it is specific to you, then I would answer the same.
Honestly, I have unfortunately with experience, began to realize that many in law enforcement are just the other side of the coin, of the criminal. Sometimes law enforcement doesn't want to see and often writes up a report leaving you wondering if it was the same event. (Apparently mentioning a crack pipe or that 2 were arrested when a roommate (ie you) calls 911 due to a volatile situation is not worth including. Arrested apparently for outstanding warrants. Not my friends. ANd no longer there.
Must agree in part with other (most items are material and can be replaced) but having a car stolen vandalized, having been robbed, intimidated, etc not really happy over this. In this economy people just seem less human. That said, it beats getting shot or a bullet.
Perhaps more self defense could be taught, even for distressed women. I would find that far more productive than talking.

Well, I guess they want honesty. lol I agree with you, though. I don't think most people really mean to go out of their way unless they have a very personal bone to pick with you.
I had to answer a somewhat similar question on an assessment and it was... Does prolonged eye contact make you feel uneasy? I answered YES because it does! I got the job anyway. So I don't think it will matter. Good luck.

i would hope the answer is false but sometimes I don't know. How many people do you know like to get revenge on someone?
How many of those people will forget or forgo something they normally do to apply this revenge...
Again I hope it wouldn't be high.
But for one to accept this as true Must be willing to hand over their life as well. No one really controls how you react to something so for someone to Make my life miserable would be really hard.
you can make things difficult for me if i allow you!
you can slash my tires but my life isn't tires
you can blow up my house and car
but i can get new ones
if you hurt my family that's when I get down to their level. miserable no mad upset pissed off indeed.

Police regularly go out of they way to make others' lives miserable. Most other people do not.

they would probably suspect you to be paranoid or a pessimist or ready to fight if you put true. You put the right answer.

people who feel like victims are the ones answering yes to that one... they just can't accept that they are in the situation they are in because of their own choices
