    First we have to find the integral from 1 to M of 1/x^2.

    Rewrite 1/x^2 as x^-2. When we integrate x^-2, we get 1/3x^3.

    Then evaluate that from 1 to M:

    By plugging in M for x we get 1/3M^3 , and by plugging in 1 for x we get 1/3(1)^3 = 1/3

    To evaluate them we subtract the lower bound from the upper bound.

    1/3M^3 - 1/3

    Now set it equal to 2:

    1/3M^3 - 1/3 = 2

    And solve algebraically:

    +1/3...

    1/3M^3 = 7/3

    *3M^3...

    1 = 7M^3

    /7...

    1/7 = M^3

    and take the third root...

    1/thirdroot(7) = M

    Hope this helps!
