ipod classic big red X?
Basically my ipod keeps coming up with the infamous big red X and the reference to apples website, there is also a kind of sizzling sound coming out of the back it sounds like it might be the hard drive but i dont really know much about these things. i did think it was water damage but drying it out hasnt done anything and the water damage indicator is still white. does anyone have a clue as to whats going on? (by the way the apple warranty has run out)

sounds like a Hard drive problem man. And if its water damage it could be more than one thing... time for a new iPod most likely. Sorry man. At least you didn't drop yours in a toilet like I did. thats sucked. Thank god for best buys protection plan!
