how long do i have to live in a state to be considered a resident?
I live in california but i want to go to UF thats in florida.. it suggested that i move to florida and become a resident to avoid those out-of-state extra charges.. how long to I have to live in florida for before i can declare myself as a resident?

Usually a year - check with UF though. It's probably worth taking a gap year and living/working in Florida though - the savings are huge.
Whatever you do, make the necessary connections in FL - get a job, file taxes, get a driver's license, register a vehicle if you have one, etc. Apply to UF from your new address and make that your permanent address as far as the school is concerned. If you have a CA license, plates, taxes, and use your parent's address, they won't buy it.

You are a resident the second you move there. The question is how long do you have to be a resident to qualify for the instate price scale.

Most states require you to live there for 1 year before you can pay in state tuition.

won't help u any.....
** ur parents have to claim u on their taxes till u are 24 yrs old........and as such u will still be charged the out of state rate since ur parents aren't also going to move...
** for all other issues its only 90 days.....but when it comes to college fees there is this crap...sorry..
