Can i export a Character Model from a game disk?
Im a Digital Media student at college and i just thought of a random idea. Can i export a character model from a game disk? It seems logical. The model has to be in the game somewhere. Also my pc can read the disk (kindof). So is it possible? Also, if it is, what file type is it. Also what is a CGO file type. I found it in the game and want to know what it is.

I have no knowledge of ripping files off discs, so you can disregard this answer if you want.
But what I do know, is that game files aren't just 'seperate files'. What I mean is, there isn't a 'Characters' folder that contains all the character models.
The people who make the games/discs compile all of the files into 1, or few big files. And it's usually some .xxx extension, I guess depending on the game engine used to do it.
Now, if you find a program that can extract compiled files from such file types, then I'm sure it would be possible. And also, I'm not familiar with a CGO file type :P

Every game has a file that contains all characters example:( in GTA SA the file is named gta.iso) which contains every model of the game like buildings vehicles etc. you just need to find that file usually is the file with the most MB's-GB's. but if you played gta SA and tryed to mod it a little , you could open that file only with the Moder (modifier) so you need to check out for other games modifiers :) (( Sorry for English)) am from poland :D

I have very little knowledge of this, myself.
All I know is that that's how Monty Oum says he made Haloid & Dead Fantasy. I remember reading in the Q&A's that his friend ripped them from the games.
I don't know how it was done exactly, but I know it worked :3

Also, maybe this can help: http://3d-ripper-dx.software.informer.com/
As for CGO, no clue, but according to about.com you can open it in Notepad: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fileextensions/f/cgo...
(I googled it because I was curious, and that was ALL I found. It's apparently non-existent outside of Railroad Tycoon 3 :P)
