If and when Prince William becomes king will he be known as "Kaiser Bill"?

Kaiser means king in German and William is often called Bill. Wilhelm Hohenzollern the pre 1918 king of Germany was known in this country as " Kaiser Bill" and this name would be in keeping with Prince Williams`s German lineage.

Between the pages of the tabloids, --yes, and quite frequently. Perhaps this catchy name will have been splattered amongst newspapers world-wide. Even head hunters in the most remote parts of the jungle shall engrave this in tree bark and the sands.

As others here have mentioned, Kaiser does not mean King. Koenig is king in German. The title kaiser only came into being after the unification of the German states back in the 1871. Before that year, there was no Germany, just a bunch of German speaking kingdoms, principalities and states.

Prince William is not called Bill, he is not a German royal, and the UK is English-speaking.

There wouldn't be any logic in using a German title for a British monarch in a nation where German is not an official language.

If you're merely trying to be amusing, you need to work on it.

Andy, he'd be William V. You're forgetting King William IV, who reigned as King of the United Kingdom from 1830-1837.

In general, the fact that the nature and constituent parts of the country have evolved and changed over time has not had an effect on regnal numbers. The two most recent Edwards, for example, were called the 7th and the 8th, even though earlier Edwards were not kings of Scotland.

No, Kaiser does not mean King in German or any other language for that matter. I just don't see the relationship. William's German ancestry goes back about 150 years. I doubt that your family have been here that long. I don't see what purpose it would serve and the reason you gave is very childish.

As he won't be a Kaiser, no.

And, no...Kaiser does NOT mean King....King in German is König.

Kaiser Wilhelm was an EMPEROR. Kaiser comes from the Latin word "Caesar" as in Julius Caesar.

    So does the word Tzar.

Kaiser is closer to Tzar than to king.
