Dell 1545 problem. Trying to install XP alongside Windows 7?

I have a Dell 1545 Inspiron with upgraded Windows 7. I am trying to install XP on a partition and I get a vblue screen every time after running the XP Disc. Any ideas? Is it a driver issue?

your xp disc probably does not have sata ahci driver integrated. 2 ways to install xp on this lap:

    1. disable ahci sata mode in bios. press F2 to enter bios

    2. use nlite software to integrate sata driver to xp iso file and use it to install normally

  • You could install it virtually with Sun VirtualBox. I prefer virtual machines because:

    1. No partitioning

    2. Dynamic (expanding) hard drive - it's only as large as you need it to be

    3. No need to log off your host (Windows 7) every time you want to switch

    4. If it ever has an error or a virus, you can just delete it and reinstall it.

    5. No corrupting the MBR (affects booting... you may boot into the wrong partition by accident)
