What path should I choose for my life?

For the longest time, I've always loved writing and reading. My dream was to become a writer of fiction books and do what I loved for a living. I held onto that for a long time, though lately, I've suddenly become confused about what I want to do. The recession means that you need a job that will be in need, or at very least, somewhat there. There's also the pay factor, too. I'm currently in high school in a program where we graduate with both our diploma and an associate's degree your senior year of high school, and these credits transfer to a four-year university where you will get your bachelor's degree in 2 years.

I've thought about changing my educational choices. So far, it's really been an English-based arts degree, but as the recession grows longer and job opportunities continue to look bleak, I've been concerned with the decision of choosing what I love or what will make decent money. Interior design is another passion of mine, and while I don't enjoy math very much and haven't really sketched, it would be something that would be more secure than getting a writing degree and would ultimately make more money. A third option would be an environmental science career, which I care deeply about, but feel I would not be as happy. The environmental science job market will inevitably be booming by the time I graduate college, so it would be a wise financial choice. But I don't really want to be in a job that I dislike.

You're supposed to follow your dreams, and I want to follow mine. But lately I've been so confused and all of this has just made me resent reading and writing anything. Give me your best advice to what I should do and it will be greatly appreciated.

I totally understand what you're feeling. I have my degree and because of the recession, I'm starting to rethink my current career plans but a good thing to keep in mind is you will have your career for the rest of your life so you have to do what you enjoy. If you're thinking about a career in interior design, it's a very creative field that I'm sure you would enjoy! FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in LA has a great interior design program. My friends graduated from FIDM and I've seen the student work from the interior design program and it's gorgeous! FIDM has great connections throughout different industries that students can utilize through the school's career center and even after graduating. Check out the school's website and see if you like their interior design program. Talking to an adviser from the school about your goals may also help you in your career path and help you decide which option is the best for you. Good luck!

If you don't like/do well in math, then environmental sciences is not for you. Get your English degree, but also take education courses - an English teacher can find employment rather easily, and you would have time to pursue your writing as well

What's striking is that all your possibilities are romantic and impractical.

It's a cold world out there. Unless you want to be a parasite, you must choose something that will bring bread to the table. This does not necessarily mean college — you could serve a four year apprenticeship in some creative trade such as Tool & Die Maker.

Do you not hate it once you ask an effortless question, and spiritualists leap down your throat and in simple terms provide you poor comments that could desire to particularly actually be labeled sarcastic and impolite? Sorry, it annoys me. I actual have non secular ideals besides, yet i could in no way shove it down yet another’s throat...... besides I totally trust the destiny Mrs Chambers. I as quickly as examine that we've what's reported as a non secular Self, a greater self, that's created from all the folk we've been in our previous lives.and as quickly as we bypass on we merge with our non secular self, giving all of it the understanding that we had obtianed throughout our existence. From this informaion the non secular self creats a clean soul (or sends out the previous one) created from the blended expreinces of the former selves and is born right into a clean lifetime( in spite of if it is one we chosen or one that arma dictates is uncertian, yet i in my opinion could opt to have self belief that I actual have chosen this existence and wished to pass by way of all the flaws that I actual have exprienced) , to assemble farther expertise and while your spirital self does each little thing it exchange into meant to achive you will bypass on on your afterlife. besides, i examine it in a fictional e book, however the lady who wrote it is incredibly non secular and that i've got self belief that she could even have self belief, as as quickly as we writes, a ingredient of ourselves is going with it. I, in spite of if, am undecided the place i stand on the reincarnation and the rebirth of our souls. i assume it in simple terms varies from individual to individual very own ideals and perceptions of which all of us believe. If reincarnation exists then i don't see why shall we not chosen the guy we could desire to be till now delivery, see you later because it suits into what Karma expects and the improvements that are mandatory to assemble greater understanding. i desire i exchange into able to function some recommendations to the region, as i detect it to be ultimate. solid success to you on your existence’s journey and quest for awareness, my chum.
