Kitchen remodeling question?
Which of the major chains is best to use for kitchen help - getting new cabinets installed, new appliances...We got a quote from Sears (they came to the house) and were fascinated at how fast they threw numbers at us without measuring or actually listening to what we wanted.
Thanks

I loved the cabinets I saw at IKEA they were beautiful and reasonably priced!

That would make me think that their work is over priced if they don't do a detailed cost estimate.
I personally would only use a local contractor that I had references for. Companies like Sears will sub-contract the work and you have little say over the workers that show up to do the work. On top of that these companies add a profit and management fee to the sub contractors price.
We are currently having our kitchen and master bath remodeled. We are using a local contractor that several of our neighbors have used in the past. He is interested in repeat business and referrals so he is being extra careful to be sure we are happy with the work.

I think Sears is a great company and there are a few other companies that are just as good with prices. Check http://bestskylights.com./ This company is good for any type of skylights or blinds that you may need for remodeling as well. Good luck!!

I'm ordering my cabinets from CabinetGiant.com (they also have a facebook page) after much research--very reasonable prices, but it is ready to assemble cabinets
A friend of mine is a contractor and she swears by HomeDepot's cabinets, may want to give them a try also.
hope you find what you're looking for...

I would search Craig's list or your local newspaper for a handyman, a good carpenter, who needs work...they can usually give you references of their work. And they will be much cheaper. Just find one who listens and you trust...don't give them any money until the job is done.
