Does changing jobs affect my ability to get a mortgage?

Would changing jobs, even if I did not change my income or leave my area of professional expertise, affect my ability to get a mortgage?

This could be for a second home, rather than a primary residence. I haven't decided that part.

While no one can give you an absolute answer, typically mortgage companies want you to be at the same job with the same employer for two years. HOWEVER, the one major exception is when you make a lateral move to a new employer. Since your income remained the same and you are doing a similar job, it may affect your chances of getting a mortgage very little.

It may. Many lenders want to see two years of steady employment at the same employer, however, some will accept two years in the same job type/occupation.

Note, however, that lending requirements for second homes tend to be more restrictive and you are less likely to get a mortgage for a second home compared to a primary residence after having changed jobs

Changing EMPLOYERS would affect your chances of getting a mortgage. Many factors are examined and every situation is unique. If you have a stable employment history and work in a professional or semi-professional field, that is less likely to hurt you. Nobody can give you any guarantees.

Yes it does The second home requires a commercial mortgage at higher rates and much stricter requirements
