Elderly: I don't like reading about people who are too old, because they have limitations that I've never felt before, so it makes me disconnected.
Adults: I'm okay with adults, but since I am not one, it doesn't interest me much.
YA: I like reading about teens since I go through similar experiences and they all feel the way I do. I can connect to the story better.
Little kids: I don't mind reading about younger children too much. Just depends on the story.
I like reading with female protagonists, mainly because I am a girl and I relate more, but I don't mind male. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings both had male protagonists, but I loved them very much. I suppose this depends on the story too.

I like reading about young adults... not teenagers, but those who have just become adults; 18-25. They're just going into the world and discovering how difficult life is, and all of a sudden they have dozens of new responsibilities- so much more stress than before. An interesting time to read about, in any genre.
I like reading females POV.

I prefer reading from a female point of view BUT a guys point of view is always interesting.

Im 20
I dont make a deal out of age, any character between 20 and 50 would be fine.
Gender is although a great deal. I just cant relate to a female character. I'm playing the macho guy but its true.
Books written by women tend to be annoying but there are strong exceptions like Jane Austen or Emily Brontë

Well, around my age so any where from 12-17 (I'm 13) over twenty are usually more mature. And I mostly read about strong female characters but I don't really mind guys so it doesn't really matter to me.

it depends on what age group you directing your story to... if you want teens to read it (and their moms who like to "feel" younger) go with 15-19... play it safe at around 17
