Can I make my hair grow thicker?

I have naturally thin/baby fine hair and can't really do to much with it. It's short right now. But, when it's long it's very thin and looks stringy. I'm only 19. So, please don't recommend rogaine.

Update:

Thanks for all of your answers everybody. I really appreciate them. Please keep them coming! By the way, does anybody know if Ookisa will help?

The actual thickness of a single strand of hair is determined by genes passed on by parents....how ever the amount of hair grown can be increased as well as the quality of the hair.

One of the most simple and natural ways is by using mild shampoo and only cold water to was your hair. Blow drying, perms, and even so called conditioning treatments can damage healthy hair. it may look good shortly after the treatment but will actually do damage.

I live in the Philippines where there is a minority of households that have hot water, the locals hair is very silky and shiny. Nor do the locals own or can afford the power to run blow dryers or spend much at the beauty parlor. One thing for sure....hot blow dryer air is a major killer of hair, avoid that at all costs.

As a blond American of Irish descent, I also have thin hair, but since living here (i'm 58 years old0 my hair has become thicker and much more well managed. This will not happen overnight, but keep at it with less chemicals and the use of cold water and I think you will see a difference.

Unfortunately, when it comes to thick or thin, coarse or fine, what we are born with is what we get. The best recommendation I have is to find a great stylist in your area. He/she will recommend a cut that will make the hair appear thicker and fuller, and will let you know which products to use to achieve the best look for your hair type.

Don't worry! There are a few different things you can do to make your hair thicker...

First you will want to get a volumizing shampoo. Next you will want to eat a really balanced diet because the nutrients that you put into your body go right to your Hair. also try drying your hair with a round brush and don't put to much hair spray in it! Good luck!

haha i like the rogaine part!:) theirs lots of ways to make your hair grow out longer and thicker. you could try mane and tail shampoo which is for horses. their is a down side to this it does make your scalp dry and it doesnt smell the best. or you could try ovation cell theripy you buy it in a kit and it shampoo and it does make a huge differece it definatly coasts more than the horse shampoo but definatly works 100 times better!!
